This weekend we were hit with rains and then we got hit with the remnants of Ike. My yard was flooded, our streets were flooded and all the retention ponds in the area were over flowing with water. Crazy dog refused to go outside without an escort so I had to walk with her under the umbrella with me so the princess would not get wet (hey, laugh if you want but it's better than having her pee in my house). Yesterday, it took me 3 hours to drive to work (normally a 40 min drive) but today, some of the water has receded. Our park district is still under water and many counties have been declared disaster areas (including mine) but my house is dry and my family is okay. Our church is dry and everyone is okay there as well. My parents and family's houses are dry and everyone is okay too. WHEW. I keep praying for the rest of the water to recede soon so people can go back to their houses and start the clean up. Slowly but surely that is happening around here. I pray it happens soon for Texas too.
The sun is shining, the birds are singing, it's all good. Skies are blue today and no rain in the forecast for a while so we will have time to dry out before we get hit again. That is a big relief indeed.
Keep flood victims in your prayers!
Blessings,
Sandy
